This applet demonstrates the diagram's selection modes, configured by the radio buttons on the right side.

Clicking on an element selects it. Control-clicking adds to the selection in a multiple-selection mode. Shift-clicking will do a deep selection in a shallow selection mode. The toolkit provides additional low-level parameters to modify the selection modes.
